Panji District
Panji District is located in the north of Huainan, adjacent to Fengtai to the west and Mengcheng and Huaiyuan to the north. It has a total area of 590 square kilometers and is the largest district in Huainan City. Panji was established in 1972 and governs 9 towns, 1 township, and 1 street. It has a population of 45,5600. Within the territory, there are fertile plains and abundant resources, earning the reputation of “east or west, Huainan is the best”. It boasts 450,000 mu of arable land, and has established four major bases of high-quality grain, fine vegetables, animal husbandry, and bean products, as well as an agricultural science and technological park. Panji has a profound history and culture. “Fengtai Anti-Japanese Democratic Government Memorial Park” is located in Panji. The national intangible cultural heritage -- Flower Drum Lantern is known as the “Eastern Ballet”, and Qiwei Village in Qiji Town is known as the “First Village of Tofu Culture in China”. Panji is a district with many coal and electricity enterprises. There are four super large modern coal mines, four power plants, and one provincial industrial park in the district.
