Experiencing the Enduring Charm of Chu Culture in Shouzhou Ancient City During the National Day
During the National Day, Shou County's Ancient City Scenic Area was packed with visitors. The tourism in Shouzhou Ancient City has once again gained significant popularity, driven by innovative cultural and tourism activities.
In the golden autumn, visitors are invited to gather in ancient Shouzhou. Adhering to the principle of integrating culture and tourism, Shou County has carefully planned and launched the “Discover the Beauty of China in Shouzhou Ancient City” cultural tourism initiative. It included immersive performances, night tours, exhibitions, symphony concerts, Huangmei opera shows, cultural and tourism promotions, the China Chic Drama Week, and the Chu Culture Art Carnival. These new activities provided both residents and visitors with a vibrant cultural and tourism feast.
With Chu culture as its core, Shouzhou Ancient City is cultivating a new consumption scene that reflects China Chic. The city has hosted the “China Chic Drama Week,” featuring street plays such as The Lord of Chunshen’s Birthday Party and The Peddlers of the Warring States, as well as magic comedies for the public. An in-depth NPC-guided city tour has been introduced, along with four NPC-led theatrical guides like Tales of Chu and Stories of Shouzhou. Characters such as “Miyue,” “Huang Xie,” “Qu Yuan,” “The Great Fate,” “King Chu Zhuang,” and “King Kaolie of Chu” serve as NPC guides, leading tourists through a deep exploration of the ancient city. The “Chu Culture Art Carnival” was also introduced, with an art exhibition of the Wu Wang Dun Tomb relics on display at the city's four gates. Centered around the national treasure relic, the E Jun Qi Bronze Tallies, a large-scale adventure activity was created. Visitors, equipped with a replica of the E Jun Qi Bronze Tallies, could check in at iconic spots throughout the ancient city and enjoy an immersive tour experience. A visit to Shouzhou Ancient City is incomplete without sampling its local delicacies. The tofu banquet, beef soup, and “Da Jiu Jia” provided visitors with a taste of Shouzhou's culinary delights.(“Da Jiu Jia” refers to Shou County's Specialty Snacks.) The ancient city, steeped in Chu culture, has become a place where visitors can truly have “A Bite of Shouzhou.”

Strolling through the ancient city, tourists are greeted by the moss-covered city walls, time-worn stone roads, and historic sites like the Confucius Temple and Bao’en Temple, all imbued with the essence of Chu culture. As night falls and gently embraces the city, Chu culture-themed light shows offer visitors a stunning visual spectacle, allowing everyone who steps into Shouzhou Ancient City to experience a unique way of life known as “Shouzhou Ancient City Lifestyle.”
