Bagong Mountain Geopark

Bagong Mountain Geopark, a 4A -level tourist attraction, is located in the middle reaches of the Huaihe River, north of the Feishui River. It is a historical and cultural mountain. Liu An, the Prince of Huainan, ruling the Huainan Kingdom in the Han Dynasty, along with eight disciples, discussed the Taoism and tried his alchemy practice here. He compiled the masterpiece “Huainanzi”. The book fully described the “24 solar terms” for the first time and recorded over a hundred familiar idiom stories. Liu is also the inventor of tofu--- a byproduct of his alchemy practice. The Battle of Feishui River between the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Former Qin Dynasty was a famous example in military history that a force in small number defeated its counterpart, leaving behind legendary stories of “every bush and tree looks like an enemy” and “fear ambush at every tree and tuft of grass”. It is a national forest park and a national geological park, with a vivid miniature “Splendid Rivers and Mountains” -- “Stone Forest” stretching for several square kilometers. The Huainan Paleontological Group, the earliest fossil in the world is hailed by the international geological community as the source of life on the “Blue Planet”.
